So I didn't get that far
... A pair of socks didn't materialize in May. This is as far as I got. Well, there might be a pair between them, but unlikely. The heel of the yellow socks is a "sherman" heel. It's done with short rows and no picking up gusset stitches. I really hate gusset stitches. This method picks up stitches for the encroachments after the heel is turned, but they're minor and only once per row. Best of all, the heel is the exact same as the toe! That's right! One set of short row instructions forms both the heel and the toe! Well, perhaps best of all is that all that comes with being able to do the sock toe up or cuff down, your preference.
In other projects, I started on a new purse. This one's made of cotton so that it doesn't stretch as much as the suede one did. Everytime I take the suede one somewhere, the strap stretches a little further and now it's all the way down past my knee when I sling it across my chest, which is really annoying. The cotton I've got washes up so soft that I may try to make a pair of socks out of it, even though it's really not meant for it. I did get some new sock yarn to work with and I need to post a picture of it. It's yummy KnitPicks Simple Stripes.
I think that I may put the socks aside and work on a nice maternity top for a while. I'd like to have it finished before my belly gets overly big.
